I finally got to the point that I wanted to get a Bb that I loved to play. Since discovering C, I had a tough time taking a real liking to any Bb I put my hands on. I had good horns to be certain, and a lot of them. I believe in chronological order it went something like this: Getzen Eterna Severenson Model, Yamaha 1st generation Heavy Wall (YTR 6335HS), Bach Sterling Plus 37, Bach Model 25 Large Bore, and then I sold that and was without a Bb for about four years. I borrowed one from a friend for a couple of years, a Bach 43 that was sitting in his closet, as he was a professional vocalist. After getting a Chicago C, I decided it was time to get my own Bb and decided to get the Bb companion to the Chicago C. The Yamaha Bb was a great horn and VERY versatile. I played it on Ein Heldenleben several times and also used in big bands and for commercial recording sessions. But once again, I have settled on a custom made Blackburn trumpet. My instrument is a medium large bore with a 213A24S bell and a 19-348 leadpipe. I opted to keep it in raw brass since I didn’t want to give it up for two weeks for plating. Besides, it still looks awesome.
